Anna- Mia Barwe Band
Anna- Mia Barwe Band started in 1988 as house band on the jazz boat between Malmö and Copenhagen. The band has given countless concerts – from intimate jazz club sessions to christmas shows, they have toured in Sweden and performed in radio and on television. Three albums have seen the light: Anna-Mia Barwe Band 1998, Jazz po Skånska 2002 and New Standards 2003.
Most attention has been paid to Jazz po Skånska, which is Jazz in Scanian, Jazz sung on the very unswedish dialect spoken in the province on Skåne (Scania). It became a success in sales and is still requested throughout the whole of Sweden. Father to the idea and most of the material is the pianist Sven Bjerstedt.
Band members are: Sven Bjerstedt – piano, Per Ekman- bass, Jerker Heijkenskjöld, drums.
Let Sonya be with us
Together with the bass player Ulf Rådelius and the guitarist Bo-Göran “BG” Sahlin, Anna-Mia has created a tribute to the late swedish vocalist Sonya Hedenbratt. Here you find a mixture of Sonyas lively music hall songs, the sweetest jazz ballads, community singing and a great deal of humour. Contributing as a guest artist is the pianist Sven-Erik “Svenna” Dahlberg who were Sonyas pianist and friend during 40 years.
Jan Sigurd
Since the year 2000 Anna-Mia has collaborated with the composer and author Jan Sigurd. A concert with Sigurds work was set up by Musik i Syd and toured troughout the south of Sweden. Parts of the material was later used for the album Så vill jag älska dig, released by Phono Suecia in 2005.
Miscellaneous
Anna-Mia is frequently engaged as a guest artist. One of the more recurrent engagements is with the swing band Swinging Top Seven.
Among a number of more odd engagements she has also collaborated with the famous danish pianist Svenn Skipper in recording children songs for a danish school project.
